This piece was inspired by a plastic shoe rack that similarly mounted to a wall and held shoes in a vertical position. Who wants a piece of plastic mounted to the wall in the mud room/entry of your house, though?? So, I made this beautiful maple version of a shoe rack, topped with a convenient shelf, using wonderfully figured ambrosia maple with subtle black walnut inlays. The result is a statement piece, instead of a plastic eye sore.
The piece shown in these pictures is sold. It was made specifically to fit three pairs of shoes in each cabinet, with the largest shoe being a men’s size 10. A similar shoe rack can be built for you taking into account your own shoe size needs. The species of wood can range from similar ambrosia maple, black walnut, or white oak. Price depends on size and the species of wood.
